Meet Doctor Joshua Daniel Usman, a very hearty, buoyant, and dedicated Physician. He is an established and renowned expert in obstetrics and Gynaecology with outstanding excellent results over thirty years of practice in the private and public sector. He is committed to meeting the physical needs of people by providing healing and wellness to couples and homes in Nigeria and the diaspora. He is well known for his excellent listening skills, bedside manners and outpouring compassion for patients who are in need of clinical care. The spark of joy in his eyes when delivering a baby in the theatre and a declaration of good wishes following the baby’s arrival is one of the best things patients love about him.
Dr Joshua Usman existence in the DMC is likened to a hand stretched in hope always ready to give. Born in Bornu but raised in Plateau state, he exudes lingual fluency in English, Hausa. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1974 from Baptist Primary School Bukuru, in Plateau state Nigeria. He later forged ahead to obtain his West African School Certificate (WASC) and General Certificate of Education (GCE) in the year 1980 and 1982 respectively.
He proceeded to become a medical Practitioner in 1990 where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at University of Maiduguri, Borno state. In 1991, Dr Joshua Usman Daniel started his houseman ship at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. While at the Teaching hospital, he taught both undergraduate medical students and graduate residents in Obstetrics and gynaecology. He gathered a lot of experience in the prevention of maternal mortality in the country and Northeast sub region when he was involved in the UNICEF Zone D of prevention of maternal mortality and childhood death. Also, at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, under PEPFAR program, Dr Joshua gained experience in the Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS (PMTCT). He also wrote a dissertation on this topic as Part II of his examination of West African College of Surgeon.
As a reproductive physician, Doctor Joshua is into Assisted Reproductive technology (ART). In this field, he received extensive exposure locally and internationally as a member of European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHIRE) and a member of American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He also did a certificate course in the famous Nordic Institute in Denmark in 2009.
His core areas of interest include; reproductive medicine, Prevention of Mother to child Transmission of HIV/AIDS (PMTCT) and cervical cancer.
Currently, Dr Joshua is the Chairman Clinical Practice Committee and Deputy Medical Director DIFF Medical Centre where he has garnered a lot of experience in Hospital Management and administration. He runs his own full-fledged clinic (Joshua Usman’s Clinic) located at DIFF Medical Centre. He is a member of many accredited Professional bodies such; Nigerian Medical Associate (NMA), Society of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of Nigeria (SOGON), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria(MDCAN) and to mention but a few.
Outside his medical life, Dr Joshua has a knack for sports. He enjoys travelling and reading valuable contents and current affairs. He is happily married to a Nurse Practitioner, and they are blessed with four adorable children.
